Osciel Velásquez Hernández

Osciel Velásquez, is a recognized crustacero leader of the Coquimbo Region with more than 40 years linked to the world of fishing and the extraction of crustaceans.
In 2013 he assumed the presidency of the AIP Coquimbo, work that led him to be recognized for being responsible for managing and implementing the first international certification of a Chilean industrial fishery under the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) standard.
In 2016 he came to preside over the National Fishing Society (Sonapesca F.G.), a union federation that groups 10 unions and more than 100 companies throughout Chile.
At the international level, he chairs the Latin American Alliance for Food Security through Sustainable Fishing (Alpescas), an association that
brings together the industrial fishing associations or chambers of Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Peru and Mexico, whose objective is to promote a sustainable fishing activity, achieve a development of industrial fishing, aquaculture and its related activities in the region and support the activities of its associates, as well as ensuring food security in Latin America.
