Cristian Vallejos

Cristian Vallejos is the Marine Stewardship Council’s (MSC) Program Director for Latin America, and is responsible for program implementation throughout Latin America, including developing relations with fisheries, commercial partners and stakeholders.
Cristian is part of the MSC’s senior management team for the Americas region, leads its Latin America staff and is based in Lima, Peru. 
Cristian has over 25 years of experience working in sustainability and natural resource management issues.
Before joining the MSC he worked for several environmental NGOs and projects in Latin America, including the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) where he served as its Regional Director for the Americas, facilitating the expansion of FSC’s certification program in the region.
More recently he was the Latin America Director for the Conservation Strategy Fund (CSF), helping this organization expand its contributions to sustainability by leading its applied economic research and training programs in the region. 
Cristian holds a bachelors degree in social sciences from Universidad Católica in Lima, Peru, attended Duke University’s graduate program in Natural Resource Economics and Policy for senior professionals, and was an invited scholar at the Workshop in Political Theory and Policy Analysis (currently the Ostrom Institute) at Indiana University.
Cristian was also elected to serve at FSC’s international board of directors from 2005 to 2008.
